OUR PROJECTS FOR 2008/2009
- Youth Care Centre Malči Belič, sponsorship for two new girls
- “A Sparkle in children’s eyes”, Nedeljski Dnevnik;
- financial assistance for a family with 7 children at the age from 1 month to 10 years from Kočevska Reka
- donation of kitchenware, bedclothes, washing machine and other household necessities for two more families
- The Foundation Gallus; a scholarship for Irene Preda to help her finish her masters degree at Trinity College of Music in London
- City Museum of Ljubljana; donation for the permanent exhibition of the museum for the purchase of the camera used by our great impressionist painter Rihard Jakopič
IIW has joined in the 2006-2009 UNICEF project »Global Girls' Education Programme« and our IW club Ljubljana has decided to participate in it by a contribution paying for the following:
- the training of one teacher as part of UNICEF Afganistan community-based schools' programme and
- for buying exercise books for 150 girls.
Educated girls will become educated mothers – Girls' education translates directly and quickly into:
- better nuriton for the whole family,
- better healthcare,
- reduced child and maternal mortality,
- prevention of HIV/AIDS,
- family planning,
- poverty reduction and
- better overall performance.
