WORD OF THE PRESIDENT OF IWC LJUBLJANA 2010/2011
As the 13th president of Inner Wheel Club Ljubljana I would like to continue working on projects helping those in need and building bonds between friends in our club as well as with other members of Inner Wheel worldwide.
In the past few years, our help has been mostly social due to the economic crisis. We helped in cases when people did not have enough means to satisfy basic needs. I think that as women (and mothers) we often understand people's problems in a different way. This is how we help, too: offering conversation, monthly pocket money, supplying educational material … Every member is an important part of the Inner Wheel organization. We strive for mutual understanding and a pleasant atmosphere at our meetings and activities. Three years ago we hosted the then-International Inner Wheel president, Ms Janet Day. This year I had the opportunity to meet Ms Ülkü Somer, president of the organisational committee for the IW convention in Istanbul in 2012. She emphasized the meaning of International Inner Wheel and its members' power. Our sister club is IW Club Trieste and we also cooperate with various clubs in the region of former Yugoslavia, especially IW Club Pula. We like to socialize with our friends and help each other as much as we can when necessary. In Slovenia we are not alone: we share the Inner Wheel idea with our friends from IW Club Maribor, with whom we would like to cooperate even more often. Although I wish the current world circumstances were kinder to all people, members of IW Club Ljubljana will always commit with conviction, compassion and consistency (motto of Pallavi Shah, current International Inner Wheel president).Suzana Domijan
